3 Favorite Movies of the Sandwich Generation (This Boomer, Anyway)

by Kaye Swain

Movies with fun family memories and lovely houses and landscaping designs give me big smiles

SandwichINK Real Estate Info is joining up with Cindy at I Owe It All To Him today. She wants to know our favorite movies. That would be SOOOO hard for me to pin down. But since I'm doing it here at SandwichINK Real Estate Info, I decided to think about ones I love that include houses or landscaping designs I also love.

0% The Sound of Music if full of wonderful and difficult family memories and a large and lovely house big enough for the Sandwich Generation issues.jpg

One favorite for decades (can you tell I'm in the Baby Boomer Generation)  is The Sound of Music. In addition to the delightful music, and the wonderful and suspenseful storyline, who could resist those sweet flowers, Edelweiss, on the majestic hill. Not to mention a house big enough for the biggest of the Sandwich Generation families.

Father of the Bride is full of sweet family memories and lovely landscaping designs

Two more that I love – Father of the Bride 1 and 2 with Steve Martin and Diane Keaton. Between the delightful music, the gorgeous family home full of sweet family memories, and the wonderful landscaping designs, flowers, and butterflies, I could just move in there myself. 🙂

Dear Kaye,
Oh, what a wonderful post!!! And I love those movies too! The song “Edelweiss” is truly beautiful, isn’t it? These are precious movies.
Thank you so much for linking this up–you are always such an inspiration…and I’m so happy to hear about your favorite movies…I think we know people better when we know what they love.
Hugs,
Cindy

I love all the films you chose too. It’s so hard to pick one though I did. I think my list could go on and on really…..
Have a great weekend.

Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving your comment on my favorite movie(s) post.

Yes, Sound of Music is on both our lists. I have loved that movie for years…and I pretty much know it backwards and forwards.

Your other movies, I’ve only seen in the original (50’s) version, with Spencer Tracy, Joan Bennett, Elizabeth Taylor, and Don Taylor. They are very cute movies.

Have a lovely day,
Patti (Fill My Cup with Beauty)

Hi June, I KNOW! I have to go with genres – because I like so many – action adventure, family, Christian, grandkids :), and in this case, extended families with lovely big homes and gorgeous landscaping designs. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Hi Kim, You are so right. They still get me laughing my head off, then wanting to waltz around to some of the lovely songs. I have delightful family memories of watching one of them with a very sick grandchild and it cheered us both up. 🙂

Hi Patti, My senior mom loved the original. I keep meaning to try them, but never have. Thanks for the visit. 🙂

I love these movies also, especially Father of the Bride–another one we can watch repeatedly.

Thank you for stopping by my neighborhood.

Kim, you’ve picked 3 wonderful movies. Like your mom, I saw The Sound of Music when it first came out. I have seen it at least a half dozen times since then. It never gets old. And the more modern ones with that delightful Diane Keaton were great, too. In a different way.
