activities for grandparents and their grandchildren

Delightful summer storms to cool us off and add a bit of exhilaration to our Sandwich Generation days! :) As I wrote at SandwichINK, the Sunflower House, and our house, have enjoyed some summer wind, rain, thunder, and lightning. I had fun snapping a ton of photos of all the goings on and was particularly intrigued with one very adventurous little honey bee.

These bees were determined to hang on and these flowers were determined to survive no matter how windy it was

At first, I thought he was just very tenacious. But after watching him a bit, I'm more inclined to think he was having a blast "windsurfing" in my giant Mammoth Sunflower!

This wind-surfing little honey bee is great for landscaping designs as he helps pollinate the various plants sweetly

I, of course, am thrilled because honey bees are great for our landscaping designs, thanks to their wonderful pollinating plans. And the Sunflower House has definitely proven to be good at attracting bees lately.

Looking for flowers for bees and butterflies to add to your delighful landscaping designs - think sunflowers

But mostly, I just had fun snapping his cute little picture with my easy to use digital camera so I can share the sights with my grandchildren and all of you! :)   Speaking of pictures, be sure to visit Sweet Shot Tuesday, as well, for more delightful and intriguing photos! And, don't forget to…

Spiritual Sunday actually starts as early as Saturday, so I thought I'd pop in on Saturday for SandwichINK Real Estate Info with this video from Bill Gaither and their Homecoming Series (seems appropriate for a site that primarily focuses on the house, home, and real estate needs of the Sandwich Generation :) ), with one of the sweet older praise and worship hymn songs.

Featuring one of the world's oldest (if not THE oldest) Living Quartets (it was recorded approximately 1997), the senior citizen tenor was 92 at the time! To echo one of the commenters, I hope and pray if God still has me here on earth at the age of 92, that I'm also still singing and praising Him as wonderfully as this gentleman, Robert S. Arnold! He has since gone on to heaven, himself, at the age of 98! But his testimony for his Savior continues…

Wasn't that great! Wonderful and encouraging for all of us in the Sandwich Generation, caring for elderly parents, to enjoy and share with our grandchildren and our senior parents! Have a blessed week, and for more inspirational Bible verses, praise and worship hymn songs, and words of encouragement, be sure to visit Spiritual Sunday! :) And, be sure to…

I'm thankful to God for so many things! I'm thankful that, in spite of all the heat in Kentucky and most of the United States, my senior mom's gardening projects are doing GREAT!

I am thankful my easy to use digital camera has the proof that my senior moms gardening is both fun phsysical senior citizen activities and very tasty and productive

Gardening chores can be fun and physical senior citizen activities and I'm thankful she enjoys them and is able to do them.

Love the blue faux snake to keep the cute red and brown Kentucky Northern Cardinal Birds from eating her vegetables

I'm thankful for the great example my sweet senior mom sets for her great-grandchildren by putting out food and water for all the lovely Kentucky birds in our back yard – her favorite being the gorgeous male Northern Red Cardinal who occasionally will reward her with a song! (I'm going to get his photo one of these days. :) )

I am thankful for a sweet senior mom who helps me with my gardening and gives water to the lovely Kentucky birds in our backyard - such as the Cardinal who may thank her with a song

I'm thankful for the Compact Guide to Kentucky Birds that I found for my mom. She's really enjoying it.

The birds of Kentucky include the lovely red Northern Cardinal

I'm thankful that the fun Sunflower House we planted for the grandchildren is thriving and intriguing.

Love the Sunflower House and all the lovely sunflowers

And, I'm thankful I discovered some great blog get-togethers to join up with this week – Thankful Thursday at Greg's General Store, Fertilize Friday/Flaunt Your Flowers at Tootsie Time, and Blue Monday at Smiling Sally's  – (don't you love the cute blue faux snakes my senior mom uses to protect her gardening projects – all the while, she's busy giving them their own food and water! :) ). They have some more great posts to share – just click on their name or their button in the far right column. :)

And, I'd love for you to sign up for the FREE SandwichINK Real Estate Info email…
