Hi, Welcome to my blog about real estate information, articles, news, and tips for boomers and seniors in the Sandwich Generation dealing with the multigenerational issues of caring for the elderly parents and relatives in their families while still raising children or, as I am, babysitting their grandchildren. I have been involved in property investments since 1977. I've bought, sold, rented, and rented out property, making a profit, and accumulating losses. After 20 years of taking college classes here and there, in between raising a family and caring for elderly parents as well as grandkids, I earned my A.A. in real estate.
I haven't yet gotten a real estate license, though that is one of my goals. Right now I stay happily busy taking care of adorable grandkids and helping my senior mom. You can read more about that at SandwichINK.
My goal with this website is to blog about interesting and useful real estate information and new for boomers and seniors caring for elderly parents. I tend to have an eclectic interest in all things in general, but with a special focus on the Sandwich Generation. So anything dealing with eldercare givers, aging in place, grandparents, the Baby Boomers Generation, and any of the many other Sandwich Generation issues is definitely on my list of things to research, and that goes for real estate too. There's also a lot of gardening going on around here as my senior mom LOVES it and finding easy landscaping designs for our senior parents is a good way to help maintain their home, in case they ever need to sell it. Helping our aging parents with buying, selling, and maintaining their homes is definitely an important part of the Sandwich Generation duties.
For instance, I wrote about selecting the right real estate agent when helping our elderly parents move and gave tips to help caregivers who have to sell a house from a distance. Then again, I also love unique and interesting things, like this article about houses in Dubai and as well as this one with links to "the world's weirdest hotels."
Of course, that can also include real estate news articles of interest for all of us boomers and seniors on a variety of topics including active, independent, and critical care senior retirement communities. While one senior parent lives with me, another lives on their own at a distance, and other relatives have moved into various care facilities. Just as with so many things in life, there is no one perfect solution to anything, and the more we know, the more we can help our aging parents with positive choices.
My goal is to create a useful website to help us all in dealing with property investments and safe and happy living environments for ourselves and those we care for.
